Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year. The crisp air, the smell of leaves, leggings, sweaters and scarves! Aaahhhh!
But the festivals are the best! You aren’t sweating like a mad man (hopefully), everyone seems so happy, and nature puts on one of the best shows imaginable.
One of our favorite festivals is in Door County. For the last umpteen years we’ve headed to Egg Harbor the first weekend in October for the Pumpkin Patch Festival. They shut down the streets so you can wander freely, eat, drink and listen to music.
It’s super kid friendly too. They have jumpy houses and huge slides, face painting, animal petting, rides and great decorations.
Some of my favorite things about the festival?
Witches Brew is a seasonal wine from the Door Penninsula Winery. It’s an amazing semi-dry red wine that combines Syrah, Plum and Strawberry wines. I prefer it at room temperature, but it can also be served chilled.
Hallowine is a heavily spiced sweet apple wine. This is best served warm and, according to the winery, can act as a cider replacement. Yum!
The shopping is great too! Lots of boutique stores with local finds, food, clothing, housewares and art. A lot of shops close for the winter in Door County so you will find a lot of great deals!
If you ever get the chance, head up that way. The town of Egg Harbor won’t let you down!
