I’ve always loved to travel. After kids, that is an obvious luxury that gets put on hold. But why? There are families that have traveled the world with infants in tow. I now that is extreme, but I want my kids to grow up with a sense of adventure and want to see the world.
I have two, possibly three, larger trips planned for this year. One is going to be a magical trip to somewhere warm, with lots of the kids favorite characters, and a magical castle. The second is a girls’s trip that is in the works to a beautiful country with amazing sites and a new culture to immerse ourselves in. The third is a complete surprise that only I know about and my family will find out when I can no longer hold it in, which should be any moment because I am horrible at keeping secrets like this! (or when my husband reads this!)
I would love to do more road trips this year. There is so much to do closer to home and I’d love to explore the area. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m in a new place. There is so much to do and see, or not, if that’s your thing.
I always feel renewed after a trip, no matter where I go or for how long. It’s a reset for my mind, heart and soul.
Before any trip I’m nuts. The house has to be clean, laundry done, bills paid so that I don’t have to think about anything while I’m gone and I can fully be in the moment with those that I am with.
Our kids are at the age where they think everything is “so beautiful”! Sunsets are the bomb and nature is the greatest place to be no matter the weather. I want to experience how they feel. I want to feel that way about the simple things again. I want to do this for me, but also so that they always remember to hold on to their curiosity with both hands so they never lose the wonder.
Try to incorporate more travel into your life. It doesn’t have to be a huge trip, just somewhere that will make you feel relaxed, curious, lively. If it’s close to home or if you’ve been there before, try looking at your surroundings with fresh eyes, go off the beaten path. It will make you feel refreshed and maybe reignite that curiosity!
