Welcome to my first favorite things post for 2018!
Most of my favorite things this month have to do with feeling warm, happy and comfortable. January is generally hard for me. Christmas decorations come down and the house looks and feels blah, the warm gatherings of family dwindle, and everyone is over-tired from non-stop running from October through December. Because of this, I’m using January as my reset month. I will spend this month getting back to calm and setting up our home for a more intentional lifestyle.
I hope you will utilize some of my favorite things to reach your calm this month!
Hygge. I am truely in love with this concept. What could possibly be wrong with feeling cozy in whatever you do? This fits right in with my goal of intentional living. Why should we do things or spend time with people and things that don’t make us happy? I have fould a lot of blogs, books and facebook groups on the topic and simply going through these makes me seriously happy. (I will share them in another post!)
Audible. Where has this been my whole life? Seriously. I don’t know what made me finally try audiobooks, but I am so glad I did! The first book that I listened to was Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. Such an amazing story based on true events. It’s the story of Georgia Tann and the Tennessee Children’s Home Society from the 1930’s through the 1950’s. It tells the story of how she stole children from loving families or coerced women to give up their children and then adopted them out to prominant families. Fantastic read!
Fire Cider. OMG! This stuff is amazing! I was at one of our local grocery stores and saw this on display. I was a little hesitant at first because it containes apple cider vinegar, onions, horseradish, and habanero peppers to name a few things. All ingredients I love, but together in a tonic? YES! I purchased the Apple Cider Vinegar and Spice tonic. It’s very warming and hits every single taste bud. I’m hooked. I’ve already ordered the other two flavors and cannot wait to try them. All of these tonics can be drunk alone or added to drinks or recipes. I’ll be stalking their blog to see what I can make first, but it’s great on it’s own!
Knit mug cozy. Not sure why, but these scream comfort to me. I definately want to learn how to make them, but for now I am on the hunt for the perfect one to keep my mug snuggly warm!
