Family Vacation Part II

Our first few days of vacation were great!  You can read about it here.

Monday we had another fun day planned. My cousin lives just outside of Olympia so we planned to meet each other at the Hands On Childrens Museum.  She has a daughter that is almost two so it seemed like the perfect place to meet up.  We haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving so it was great to catch up and the kids loved seeing each other!  There is so much to do at HOCM.  Inside there is an area with every emergency vehicle, even a partial helicopter for the kids to play in, the front of a ship, a huge slide and tons of sensory/STEM stations.

Outside was AMAZING!  They had a tricycle track that went around most of the area, a lighthouse to climb, mud pie station, paint a castle and so much more.  The kids loved being out there!

We even found bigfoot!

It was a great day to catch up and the cousins didn’t want to say goodbye…

Everyone was super excited for Tuesday to arrive.  We had plans to head up to Crystal Mountain Resort to ride the gondola up to the top of the mountain!  We had been talking about this for months and really had no idea what to expect.  We had a perfect day to be there-a little chill and sunshine galore so we took advantage.  We ate lunch at the top, played in the snow (a small patch, but still snow in June!) and took in the beautiful scenery.

I thought the view on the way up was beautiful, but I had no idea how stunning it was going to be once we reached the top.  We had the most perfect view of Mt. Ranier as well as 6 other peaks.  I actually became teary-eyed at the beauty of it.  I have never seen anything like it!

This is how we all felt afterwards…

We went back to the house and grilled the oysters that we found on the beach, ate dinner and hung out.  It was a long day, but one we will never forget!

The rest of the evening we hung out by the fire laughing and enjoying the company and the amazing scenery.

Wednesday morning we packed as much as we could and then spent the afternoon checking out shops in downtown Olympia.

We made our way to Tumwater to check out Tumwater Falls Park  which was fabulous!  The trail is absolutely beautiful and the waterfalls and scenery were amazing.

Right at the beginning of the trails was our destination for dinner,  Falls Terrace Restaurant.  We had a beautiful view and great food, but the time we were spending together was certainly bittersweet.  It was the last night we were spending together, but knowing how much fun and love was shared that week excited us for new things to come with our families.
